Dr. Joseph F. Capella’s entire practice is dedicated to cosmetic surgery and plastic surgery after weight loss. He is committed to providing the very best results in these important areas of plastic surgery. Dr. Capella has performed thousands of cosmetic surgery and body contouring after weight loss surgical procedures. His extensive experience and expertise has been recognized by his peers in plastic surgery. He is frequently invited to lecture at plastic surgery conferences in the United States and abroad and provides teaching seminars to other plastic surgeons on a regular basis. Dr. Capella has co-authored three books on plastic surgery and written many peer-reviewed articles. He has been featured in the media numerous times including ABC’s 20/20, The View, Elle Magazine and CNBC.

Following completion of a fellowship in plastic surgery at the Mayo Clinic in Rochester, Minnesota, Dr. Joseph F. Capella joined his father, Dr. Rafael F. Capella, a world renowned bariatric surgeon and founding member of the American Society of Metabolic and Bariatric Surgery. Dr. Joseph F. Capella went on to assist his father on over 1000 bariatric procedures. The experience of practicing bariatric surgery has given Dr. Joseph F. Capella in depth knowledge of morbid obesity and the various surgical procedures to treat this condition. This insight has assisted him in safely and effectively managing the plastic surgery concerns of the weight loss patient. Over the last 10 years, Dr. Joseph F. Capella has performed over 5000 body contouring surgical procedures on weight loss patients. This represents one of the largest experiences in the world.

Dr. Joseph F. Capella is certified by the American Board of Plastic Surgery and is a member of the American College of Surgeons. He has been voted into the list of Best Doctors in America for four years in a row. Dr. Capella is the Chief of Post-Bariatric surgery at Hackensack University Medical Center.

Dr. Capella’s patients are primarily from the Northeast, however, he has a large number of patients who come from other regions of the United States and abroad. Dr. Capella is fluent in Spanish.
